All food handlers in establishments under Harris County jurisdiction must be certified for safe food handling.
To become certified by Harris County you must attend a two-hour training class. At the end of the class you will receive a certification card valid for two years.
Classes are available in English and Spanish. In-class training documents are available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Chinese.
Classes are held at Harris County offices throughout the county. Training classes are also held at food service locations. Check with your employer to determine if you can take a class at your place of employment.
